Saturday August 9 , 2008 NR TOP 10 AUGUST - RONALDO, THE BEATLES TOP LIST Last month the Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to play in Real Madrid rocketed up the charts to the number one position within 24 hours thus establishing a NR record as being the fastest mover ever to the top of the NR charts. Well that was then and this is now. Ronaldo continues to be the top subject in reader's interest in a subliminal way as the June Sports Notes column noting that Filepe Scolari's dropped the bomb by signing on as the Chelsea manager became number one for our latest Top 10. The Beatles Ringo Starr on tour in our Entertainment Beat June column notched the second spot. The story focused on the power and influence of the Beatles music as pointed out in an interview with a man from Taiwan who learned how to sing and play guitar to 60 Beatles sings. In a sense he learned how to speak the English language in doing so. What is most remarkable about the story is the man was born in 1962 the year the Ringo Starr joined the Beatles. The translation being is the Beatles disbanded in 1969 when the man from Taiwan was only seven years old yet the power of the Beatles music was an influence on his life. The third spot was another soccer related story which revealed the Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho and Felipe Scolari are by the CAA talent Agency. What makes this so interesting is CAA was largely the catalyst in putting the David Beckham deal together that eventually resulted in him signing with the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS. More importantly CAA is associated with Simon Fuller the creator of American Idol. CAA is one of his companies. The NBA NEWS coverage is gaining momentum as The NBA Olympic basketball team news took the sixth spot. Our television coverage took six of the Top 10 positions with American Idol's elimination of David Hernandez and Stacie Orrico WOWS her Phnom Pen, Cambodia audience leading the way by taking fourth place. American Idol related stories took four of the Top 10 rankings with the Hernandez, Orrico story being followed by American Idol & Freshie Contest Cut Down to the Final 16 and HUMAN TRAFFICKING taking the fifth spot, David Cook Wins American Idol ranks seventh, American Idol Eliminates Syesha Mercado and Larry King Meets American Idols Ryan Seacrest took the eighth spot. A human interest story perspective about the Philippines Pinoy DREAM ACADEMY story Something is Wrong With This Picture Part 2 - THE SETUP OF LAARNI was our fastest rising story for the month. It bolted up the charts to the 10th spot within 10 days of being published. We took our sample on August 3rd. This is a show that is supposed to be about developing talent but from our point of view from the very beginning the show exploited and abused a girl who came from an abusive background. She was shunned by the other contestants and verbally abused and talked about behind her back by a group of 18-year-olds who have less talent and too much to say about nothing. The mentors of the show are supposed to be teachers and have the ability to recognize talent. They became tormentors as they joined the fray of persecuting this defenseless girl in front of an International television audience. Her only purpose in life is to sing and earn enough money to return to her home and help her family to survive and rise up out of poverty. Of the contestants her main tormentor is Inaki a person who has been ridiculing her while he has no talent which is not pointed out by the mentors. They say nothing about his inability to sing but focus on his performing which is equivalent to a seal spinning a ball on his nose. His only claim to fame is he has connections in the Philippine entertainment business since he is from a well recognized Philippine entertainment family. The show is biased, disgusting and an example of bad taste and contemptuous behavior by both students and mentors. Another Dream Academy story Dream Academy 18-Year-old Faction Chew Up And Spit Out Elders - BAD KARMA took the ninth spot. The focus of this story is related to the abuse of Laarni. The conduct of the 18-year-old back stabbing clique caused three contestants to have stress problems causing two to quit the show and another being hospitalized and later expelled for concerns for his health. In the process he left his wife behind who continues to be on the show. It's a prime example of the mentor's inability to maintain control. It's a case where the inmates are running the asylum. If you care to see or read about much of what is wrong with today's society despicable behavior deceit, evil, lack of ethics and integrity these stories and this television program exemplify the worlds ongoing problem. TOP SECTIONS VISITED The NR Top 10 leaped from the seventh spot to the number one position in sections most visited. We have noticed several NR Top 10 columns continually ranking in the Top 10 overall but it is a compilation and not story specific there fore we don't rank them in the Top 10. As the content grows we will eventually devote a Top 10 to the overall Top 10 columns viewed by our readers. Cambodian Sports, soccer and our Phnom Penh column each dropped a notch and are now ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Our BIZ WHO section is another first time representative in the Top 10 by taking the fifth position. Sports Notes takes the sixth spot and our Business section takes seventh and reenters the charts. In the past it was ranked in the Top 10 only once. The NFL (National Football League) takes seventh after being fifth last month. We're not sure why this section is so popular since we have very little content regarding the league. In our research we do have stories on the Manning football family, father Archie and his sons Peyton and Eli. We also noticed that old stories of NFL Hall of Fame players Walter Payton and Howie Long continue to draw interest. They are in the top 3 oldest stories read along with Michael Jordan Rules ranking second in that category with Payton taking the top spot. NBA MAX is another first time visitor to the Top 10 sections visited. Given the stories are written in the French language it obviously translates that we have a number of French language readers. Travel Tips rounds out the Top 10. It is a no gloss look on how to survive and get around particularly in Thailand and Cambodia. It's not about sell, sell, sell but about tell, tell, tell about the bumps in the road and what to look out for in terms of danger and convince of travel. The Top 10 most visited sections are: 1 . In researching the findings we have found that search engines Yahoo, Google and MSN are all guilty of misleading the public. They have linked our story information to other sites without our permission. Those sites include Thai Visa, Washington University in the USA and UNESCO. We have tried to contact Yahoo regarding this matter but there was no response. For our story on Digital Divide Data titled Bridging The Digital Gap Yahoo linked our information to UNESCO and Washington University web sites as noted below. Notes," (by James Loving, National Radio Text Service, 8 April 8, ... www.unescobkk.org/fileadmin/user_upload/ict/Metasurvey/CAMBODIA.PDF - 117k - View as html The questions are: 1. Why would a company that is valued at billions of dollars employ dishonest practices? 2. Who is responsible for manipulating information that is misleading to the public? 3. Who is responsible at UNESCO in permitting the practice? Yahoo used the same story to mislead the public to the Washington University (USA) web site as noted below: Cambodia (PDF) 13 James Loving, "DDD - Bridging the Digital Gap of Have and Have. The most flagrant violator is Thai Visa. We have contacted them in the past but they have ignored our request to take our stories off their site. All three of the mentioned search engines have used our story information and linked it to Thai Visa without our permission. Thai Visa actually stole our story and posted it on their site. In the past they not only stole our Cambodia By Land & Sea story but also used our photo. Since that time the photo is not on our story on their site. Google provides advertising for the site. The question is why would a company that is worth billions of dollars resort to supporting a web site that steals? The information of our information page on the Google site also had the following endorsing going to the Thai Visa site. ©2007 Google - Google Home - Advertising Programs - Business Solutions - About Google FRONT PAGE WITH THAI VISA MSN did the same. It raises the question why was it necessary to make two listings on the same story to link to the Thai Visa site? Roman Wanderaugh and any other National Radio columns are only legally available on the Internet on National Radio. We DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION for any other web site to use our material including soliciting our photos to the public. We negotiate directly with interested parties for use. We are published in print in five languages. We do not approve of Thai Visa using our material and all of the search engines misleading the public to other web sites using National Radio information. Isn't a search engines job to lead the public to the information they seek? It is clearly stated on our National Radio web site: © Copyright: National Radio. Any use of these materials, whole or in part, is prohibited unless authorized in writing by National Radio. Contact: nationalradio@yahoo.com All rights reserved. The questions are: 1. Where is the integrity of these companies? 2. Why should people do business with web sites that employ illegal practices? 3. If search engine companies render misinformation regarding linking the public to web sites they aren't searching for while stealing the traffic from the site the public intends to reach does that reflect on the accuracy of the value of their business that could inflate the value of their stock? 4. Is there an ENRON in the house? We believe that a search engine should take the public to the web sites they are trying to find and not misdirect them. FULL STORY NEXT MONTH.
